Paulo Castro started his training in Gracie Jiu-jitsu in 1980 at age 16 at Barra Gracie, under Carlos Gracie, Jr. He is considered one of his best students and has won four state, two Brazilian, one Pan American and a 2nd place in the World Championships.

Paulo Castro arrived in the US in 1999 to spread out Barra Gracie's name and teach the techniques in South Florida.

He now teaches at the Ultimate Barra-Gracie in Boca Raton and also in Miami.
